Epiphany Lutheran Church

LSS Welcome Program

Currently we are eagerly awaiting a family.  We are seeking a way of partnering with Christ Lutheran in DC.  Furniture and household goods are being accumulated and we are seeking contributions to be used to pay rent for the family when they arrive.

When the weekend arrives, or the school year ends, so does some of the support for families in need. We started providing bag lunches for a few students our first year, grew to more than 20 students last year, and are working on growing this vital ministry into the future. We have also started providing weekend snack packs for students in need.

We prepare and distribute bag lunches each week to day laborers who gather in hope of work at our local big box hardware store.

A small group gathers every 2nd and 4th Monday of every month at 4:30 pm.  Over 2,000 baby blankets, child afghans, and prayer shawls have been made and distributed to area hospitals, fire departments and friends who have endured chemo. Contact Phyllis pjislandlady@verizon.net for more information.

KIVA is a non-profit organization which connects us to people all over the world who need small loans to help them establish business and fight poverty.  Our congregation has made 36 loans and continue to re-loan the money from the loans once they are paid back in full.

C-4 is a cooperative social justice effort of over 20 local faith-based organizations to serve and minister to families and individuals in need. We contribute to the C-4 Clothes Closet as well as the yearly School Supplies and Holiday Toy drives.

Since Shepherd's Table was serving food out of a little house in Silver Spring, Epiphany has been involved in preparing and serving food with this great organization. We serve at Shepherd's Table throughout the year.

This faith community continues to see Christ in our neighbor, brothers and sisters both near and far, and seeks to find ways of engaging this world in service as an expression of Christ's love through us. Here are some of the areas where we serve:
